With Clarion Safety Systems, you can create custom MSI barcode labels for your business to easily keep track of your inventory and know what to restock. MSI barcodes, also known as modified Plessey barcodes, are a type of barcode created by the MSI Data Corporation based on the original Plessey code that was developed in 1971. The Plessey code was a one dimensional barcode used mainly in libraries. However, it has been discontinued and replaced with the MSI barcode which is used primarily for inventory control in retail environments. They are most commonly seen on shelves in supermarkets and warehouses. MSI barcode labels are variable-length and are not self-checking due to the fact they are a continuous symbology. This code uses only single number digits from 0 to 9 that are converted to four binary coded decimal bits.
