    Description


    If you want a European Article Number (EAN) barcode for your product, then you’ve come to the right place. Clarion Safety lets you create your own custom EAN-13 barcode labels.

    What is an EAN-13 barcode? EAN-13 barcodes, also known as GTIN-13 barcodes, are used to identify retail products worldwide. As their name implies, they are made up of 13 digits. The first two digits are used to signify the product’s country. The next five digits make up the seller’s manufacturer code. The rest of the EAN-13 barcode consists of the product item code and the checksum. The checksum is used to verify the accuracy of the other numbers. EAN-13 barcodes are popular because they are fairly universal. Any barcode reader can recognize them, making them ideal for small daily transactions. However, the relatively low character count makes them less appealing for more complex products.
